-- Special June 2008 Clinic --

Hi everyone.  Twelve of us from the US made a special June clinic and were welcomed with wonderful weather and a fine bunch of local volunteers.  Despite my misgivings about being the only optometrist, I held up ok and even finished up every day early, only examining about 140 patients in three days.

Dr. Leidlein did surgery alone the first day but was joined by Doctors Barraza and Ruiz the next two days.  Together they did only 41 surgeries since I did not find sufficient patients for them to do more.

It was one of the most pleasant clinics ever, with low stress and low patient load. I was specially blessed to have my granddaughter and her mother from Austin drive down in the van with my brother, Jose, Jodie and a new volunteer from my water aerobics class.  We blew a tire on the trailer - as usual - on the same wheel as always, taking the same fender light as always. The only downside was yesterday when we drove from Chihuahua to Lake Jackson having spent too much time at Copper Canyon the day before.

The fellowship was wonderful and the food was excellent.  Sure missed all of you and hope you can do the October 18th clinic.
